Rosario Central Beats Newell's for Sixth Straight Win

Rosario Central secured a sixth consecutive victory over their arch-rivals Newell's Old Boys with a 2-0 win in the 8th round of the 2026 Apertura tournament. This result deepened Newell's poor form in the local championship. The goals were scored by Ángel Di María and Enzo Copetti. The match began with Newell's creating the clearest chances, motivated by their home crowd and their new coach. However, as the game progressed, Rosario Central, led by coach Jorge Almirón, took control of the match. Di María, who was later substituted, put his team ahead in the 51st minute.
